The Cathedral School of St Peter and St John is a Roman Catholic primary school under the trusteeship of the Diocese of Salford. It is maintained by the Salford Education Authority as a Voluntary Aided School – the school’s Governing Body is the Admissions Authority and is responsible for taking decisions on application and admissions.
The Catholic Faith and Teachings of the Catholic Church have an essential role in school life and influence every aspect of the curriculum. We ask all parents applying for a place at our school to respect this ethos and its importance to the school community. This does not affect the rights of parents who are not of the Faith to apply for and be considered for a place at The Cathedral School of St Peter and St John RC Primary.
Our admission number is 30 children per year group.
The Governing Body of the school will determine place allocation in line with its published Admissions Policy. As a Voluntary Aided school the Governing Body is responsible for admissions – it is guided by the requirements of law, by advice from the Diocesan Trustees and the Salford Local Authority.
Parents who are considering applying for admission to our school for their child/ren are always welcome to visit. Parents are asked to contact school to arrange a suitable date and time.
Please note that admission to the school’s nursery class does not guarantee admission to the following year’s Reception class – application must be made again for the Reception year. Likewise, admission to the school does not guarantee automatic transfer to a Catholic high school. School does have strong links with All Hallows RC High School and this is the school to which most of our pupils will transfer. Parents are sent application packs in year 6 in order to make their application for high school.
There is lots of information available on the Salford Local Authority website with regards the admissions process for Salford schools and applications for nursery and reception places can also be made on-line.
