Here are some activities to support your learning at home this week.

Phonics

This week we will be revisiting the sounds j, v, w and x sounds from Phase 3.

Please follow the link to access some phonics games. When you enter a game, please select one of this week’s sounds from Phase 3.

I have also set some games for you on Education City to practise these sounds.

I wonder if you can find any words with these sounds around your home. Make a list of words you find that have these sounds and send them to me at the end of the week via the school email address.

Maths

This week we will be practising adding one more to numbers 1 – 10.

Please watch the Numberblocks video.

Follow the teaching presentation to consolidate what the children learn in the video.
You could practise this with any items you have around the house or by drawing things you could count. For example, there are 7 toy cars in the car park. How many will there be if one more toy car comes into the car park? Check if your answer is correct by counting the cars.
Here are some more practical ideas of exploring finding one more and one less than at home.

Understanding the World Activities:

This week, I’d like you to find out about the jobs your parents or other members in your family do. Ask them what things they have to do when they are at work like do they work at a computer? Do they have to wear a special uniform? Do they help people in their job? Do they work with many other people? (Remember, if you are asking adults about their jobs that don’t live with you, ask them over the internet or phone.)

When you have found out about their job, draw a picture of them at work and write a simple sentence about what they do. Please photograph or scan in your work and email them to me at the school email address.
