Home Learning activities.

YOUR HOME LEARNING PACK:

 

Your child will have all three of their SATs Booster homework books. 

These contain 10 minute tests which cover the whole of the Year 2 curriculum. While at home please work through the remaining tests within these books, I suggest one test a day, alternating books.

 

(note to parents - answers can be found at the back!). 

 

 

Worksheets included in your home learning pack:

  • spellings (ideas for spelling games can be found on the Year 2 spellings page)

 

 

Maths No Problem Workbooks:

Please complete any pages which have not yet been attempted. Ensure you put the date on each worksheet for when you return to school.

 

 

Reading Comprehensions:

Click on the link to access the "Games from Around the World" reading comprehension.

You can read the passage on the screen and then answer the questions in your Home Learning Journal.

Home Learning Journals.

A great idea would be to use your journal to keep a diary of your time off school.

Each day write a few sentences about what you have done and how you are feeling.

In the front of your journal are lots of activities you can complete. A copy of the grid is in the front of your journal but can also be accessed here:

 

ONLINE HOME LEARNING:

 

The following activities develop our recent learning and can be completed online at home.

 

Your child has been given a copy of their personal log-on details for each learning platform (these can be found in their Home Learning Packs):

PURPLE MASH

 

In the "To Do" file you will find:

 

  • English - phonics activities to consolidate spelling and reading with the alternative sounds.
  •  English - Little Red Riding Hood activities exploring the grammar of different sentence types.
  • Maths - telling the time.
  • Maths - games to practise arithmetic and fractions.
  • Maths - measures comparisons.
  • Science - Animal needs and food chains.
  • History - The Great Fire of London art and sequencing of events.
  • Geography - naming the continents and oceans, 
  • Geography - create a weather forecast using your knowledge of extreme weather

 

You can also explore Purple Mash and choose your own projects to complete as well.

 

Don't forget to click "hand in" once you are done so I can see your incredible work!

EDUCATION CITY

 

When you log on to Education City go to "My City". 

 

There you will find a range of activities to complete which are all tablet friendly.

 

There are quizzes, comprehensions, grammar tasks and maths puzzles to complete. You can challenge yourself to socre higher by repeating each activity. These have been chosen to revise areas of the curriculum which we have covered in class recently.

 

You can even play against your friends in the PlayLIve competitions.

TIMESTABLES ROCKSTARS:

 

You should practise your X2 X5 X10 and then X3 timestables every day.

 

You can practice the timestables you are currently working on in the garage or test yourself up to 12X12 in the studio.

 

In Battle we have Boys vs Girls within Year 2 and we are also in Battle with Year 3 to see who can get the most correct answers! Come on Year 2!!!!
