Number of the Week

What do you know about the number 18?

Use your place value knowledge to find the related number facts and complete the grid.

Problem Solving: How many triangles? 

Remember the properties of a triangle - 3 sides and 3 vertices (corners).

How many can you find in the triangle diagram given? You might want to use coloured pencils to help you record the ones you spot.

2 Player addition game: Pass the Paper

A game for 2 or more players You will need:

 One piece of paper for each player

 A different coloured pen or pencil for each player

 A random number generator (dice, app, playing cards, bingo balls etc.) that creates numbers within the children’s ability. If you search Random Number Generator on Google, it brings up the following where you can enter the minimum and maximum values.

 

As a guide Year 1 should use step sizes of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10; target number of 50.

Place Value Game:

A game for 1 or more players You will need:

 A game board per player (either printed off or drawn)

 Number cards (printed off or written out) or a random number generator (dice, app, playing cards, bingo balls etc.) that creates numbers within the children’s ability. If you search Random Number Generator on Google, it brings up the following where you can enter the minimum and maximum values.

 

As a guide Year 1 should use Numbers up to 50 (or printed set I)
