‘Growing together within God’s loving family, we support, challenge and inspire each other to become the best that we can be’

9th October 2026

October provides a wonderful opportunity for our own faith formation. The Rosary is much more than a series of prayers; it invites us to contemplate the life of Jesus Christ through the eyes of Mary. In the midst of busy school life, it offers us space for stillness, reflection and encounter with God.

Throughout this month, we continue to strengthen our culture of prayer at The Cathedral School, supporting our children to become confident leaders of prayer within class worship.

Perhaps this month you can find a moment to pray a decade of the Rosary, individually, or as a family, entrusting the needs of our school community to Mary.

Thank you for all that you do to support the Catholic life and mission of our school.

We look forward to sharing more of our school life with you.

Today, we celebrated World Mental Health Day with a special assembly delivered by iThrive. The children explored the importance of looking after our mental health and wellbeing, recognising our feelings and understanding the importance of talking to someone when we need support.

It was a wonderful opportunity to remind our children that their feelings matter, that it is okay not to feel okay, and that there are always people who care and are ready to listen.

Introducing Our New School Council

A huge well done to all the children in Years 1–6 who took part in our School Council elections! We were incredibly impressed by the confidence, creativity and thought that went into everyone's speeches. It was wonderful to hear so many fantastic ideas about how we can make our school an even better place.

Following the votes, we are delighted to announce our newly elected School Council representatives for this year:

Year 1: Luna and Karis

Year 2: Oscar and Ronald

Year 3: Evie and Edward

Year 4: Alex, Khloe and Hosie

Year 5: Eryk, Alice and Annabelle

Year 6: Victor, Alex and Harper

Our School Council gives children the opportunity to share their ideas, represent their classmates and help make a positive difference to our school community. We look forward to hearing their suggestions and working together on ways to make our school an even better place to learn and grow.

We would also like to celebrate everyone who put themselves forward, particularly those who were not elected this time. Standing up, sharing your ideas and speaking in front of others takes courage, and you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. Remember, every voice matters, and there will always be opportunities to share your ideas and make a difference!

Congratulations to all our newly elected representatives. We are excited to see what you achieve this year.
