Because when things feel stuck; when the old ways of doing things are no longer working, that’s what we need to do.
In the era of Covid-19, the call to imagine feels more important than ever.
You are invited to sit around a virtual community table and help create a patchwork tablecloth. Whether you are in school or at home, we welcome you to create a piece of the CORONAQUILT on the theme of IMAGINE.
Maybe you’ll imagine a future where we’ve found new ways to care for our planet, cross borders safely or protect human life. Imagine your school after COVID 19 is over, will it be even more caring and welcoming? If so how? Or perhaps you’ll imagine what it’s like to have to leave your family behind, or what your hometown might look like or your school to someone who is arriving for the first time.
What to do
Make a square image using collage, paint, drawing, photography or text on the theme of Imagine as described above. You can use words or images. If these are available, use a piece of cloth or paper 21x21cm square (that is the length of the short side of an A4 sheet of paper).
All the quilt pieces will be stitched together virtually to create a virtual quilt made by Salford children which we can share with you and display in many settings.
All entrants will receive a Salford Coronaquilt pen and additional prizes will be given for the best 3 entrants from each school.
The deadline for all entries to be submitted to school is Monday 22nd June.
To submit your entry from home, please scan or photograph your artwork and send it to the school email: firstname.lastname@example.org (please ensure you include your name and year group in the email).
