GIFT Chaplaincy Team

Meet the GIFT Chaplaincy team!

Meet our 2025-26 GIFT Chaplaincy team!

The Pupil Chaplains are ready and raring to go for the new school year.

Our GIFT Chaplaincy team play a vital role in school leadership of prayer and worship. We act as Jesus' disciples to spread the good news amongst our pupils, staff, families and the wider community.

The role of our team:

  • Be a joyful witness of Christ in our school in the way they speak and act and treat others.
  • Work with Fr Michael and the lay Chaplains Mrs Thorpe and Mrs Kehoe to make a plan of what we want to do.
  • Help pupils throughout the school to understand the message behind the Sunday Gospels through delivering the Wednesday Word.
  • Plan events to help pupils understand special times of the year e.g. Advent, Easter, Month of Mary, Saints day celebrations.
  • Support pupils on their Sacramental Programme journey (making their first Holy Communion).
  • Plan ways to use the prayer spaces around school effectively.
  • Work together with the SLT to plan and deliver worship, prayers, assemblies and liturgies.
  • Help our school to make links with the parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St Joseph.

  • Help to lead School Mass by being responsible for Readings and Prayers of the Faithful.
  • Support the Caritas team to lead fundraising in school.

Our Autumn Action Plan

This autumn term, our GIFT team will focus on:

  • Sharing the Gospel with our school community through The Wednesday Word.
  • Leading devotions to Mary through Rosary prayer sessions throughout the month of October.
  • Sharing kindness and compassion with those less fortunate than us within our community at Christmas time. We will do this by writing Christmas prayer cards and creating handmade Christmas cards to share with them.

All Souls Day Service

In November, we gathered as a school community to recognise All Souls Day by taking some time to reflect and think about our loved ones who have gone to Heaven to live forever in God’s Kingdom. Our Chaplains led our service with prayers, scripture and poems and afterwards we were all invited to place our own creations in the Remembrance Garden.

'Bible and a Brew'

In December, we launched the Year of the Word with a ‘Bible and a Brew’ morning. Thank you to the pupils and parents who came along to share scripture stories, breakfast treats and a lovely warm brew. What a fantastic way to start the day!
