Branch 2: Prophecy and Promise

Prophecy and covenant are ways God shows His love and care for people. A covenant is a special promise God makes, like when He promises to always love and help His people. Prophecy is when God sends a message, often through a helper called a prophet, to remind people to follow Him and trust His promises. These messages help people remember that God keeps His promises and has a good plan for them. Together, prophecy and covenant teach us that God is kind, faithful, and always watching over His children.

The children developed their understanding of Advent, it is a time to wait, hope, and remember that Jesus is coming. During Advent, the children lit  candles and prayed,  thinking of Hope, Peace, Joy, Love and Christ.  Advent helps us remember the story of Jesus’s birth and teaches us to be patient and thankful as we prepare our hearts to celebrate Him.

The children listened to the story leading up to the birth of Jesus and acted it out in the environment and in front of the school and parents.

The story began with the Annunciation,  God sent the angel Gabriel to visit Mary. The angel told Mary that she had been chosen to be the mother of Jesus,  and he would be the son of God. How do you think Mary felt? "Scared"  Bryan "Shocked"  Giovanni "Happy" Luna.  Mary was surprised and a little scared, but she trusted God and said yes to His plan. This story shows us how God keeps His promises and how important it is to trust and obey Him, even when something feels big or hard.

The children listened with excitement as the story continued and we prepared for the birth of Jesus.
