The children have been looking closely at the Magi (3 Wise men, or Kings) travelling to Bethlehem to see the baby Jesus and to deliver their gifts.
We explored and wondered what they may have seen on their journey, why they gave Jesus the gifts they did and what gifts the children would give if they had met Jesus? " " A bible for Mary to read with him" Nathan "A teddy to help Jesus sleep" Elias " Straw to keep him warm” Luna
We talked about Jesus as he became an adult. Galilee was where Jesus grew up and played as a child, and where He helped people and taught them to love God and each other. Jerusalem was a big, special city where people went to pray and worship God. When Jesus travelled from Galilee to Jerusalem, it was like going on a long journey with an important purpose. This journey helps us remember that Jesus went where God wanted Him to go, even when it was hard, because He loved everyone so much.
The Magi
What do you think they saw on the way to visit baby Jesus?
I wonder what Jesus looked like?
We have been looking at the different representations of how Jesus might have looked. There were no cameras so people drew or painted pictures of what they thought Jesus may have looked like. The children had a class discussion giving their own ideas and then they became artists to create their portraits of Jesus.
