Becoming Meteorologists

Creating our own Weather station

We started by recording the weather each day. We watched the Weather forcast daily to check it matched with the weather we were experiencing - and sometimes it was wrong!

So we decided we should become Meteorologists ourselves in order to give a true reflection of the Weather at The Cathedral School of St Peter and St John.

We thought about the types of weather we tend to experience.

- how could these be measured?

We each designed our own weather machines to help us to capture the weather.

Then working in groups, we made these designs reality.

Rain gauges from drinks bottles.

Lego Duplo sundials.

Wind socks from milk bottles.

Anemometers from cups.

The creativity and team work of all was incredible! Year 1 became engineers, scientists, craft builders, problem solvers and more!
