Our mission statement
"Growing together within God's loving family, we support, challenge and
inspire each other to become the best that we can be"
Our school is dedicated to improving the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision - this includes increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils will adopt a healthy life-style and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
All of our fabulous children who have participated in competitive sport winning over 40 trophies - Well Done!

For the financial year 2016/2017 the school received £17,680.
For the financial year 2017/18 the school will received £17,680.
This funding is instrumental in the school's ability to provide many sporting opportunities. Since received school has taken part in many competitions as well as providing after-school sporting clubs. All the clubs are oversubscribed and they are given high priority as an extra curricular activity. We encourage all our children to participate, supporting and encouraging the least active. The Cathedral School of St Peter and St John RC Primary has held the Gold level for participation in the School Games for the past 3 years.
We want to encourage our children to help them understand the benefits of changing their lifestyle habits - changing for life:
School uses the funding to pay for qualified coaches to work with teachers and to provide existing staff with training and resources to help them teach P.E. more effectively.
The funding has been used to provide:
> after-school and lunch-time sports clubs
> employment of sports coaches to lead on clubs
> resources - multi sports use fixed equipment, storage facilities for sports eqipment
> competition entry and travel to these fixtures
> additional swimming lessons/transport
> course attendance to develop staff teaching-skills in sports
In 2017/18 part of the available grant will be used towards the upkeep of our new school minibus - school has a huge trophy cabinet - this is a result of continued input into sport by the school and involves many of our children working hard along with staff attending many competitions. As was expected the new school minibus has further enabled our school to achieve in sport without having to rely on very costly hired transport. Our new bus is fantastic and is providing us with great opportunities to attend sporting events we otherwise would miss due to high transport coach hire costs.
Principles for Sport Premium Funding
Here at The Cathedral School of St Peter and St John RC Primary, we ensure that teaching and learning opportunities in sport and PE are of high quality, meeting the needs of all pupils so they achieve their potential. We provide and broad and varied curriculum in PE.
Sports Premium funding is allocated and targeted based on needs analysis which identifies priority classes, groups or individuals who will benefit from intervention in PE and sport. Limited funding and resources means that not all children will be in receipt of sports premium interventions at one time.
What are our key priorities - our objectives of the funding?
Impact and Sustainability
