English

We are really enjoying our focus text in English, were we are left guessing all the way through the book! It inspired us to design our own inventions, thinking about how they would work and what they would be for. Will they make the world a better place. We designed instruction manuals, adverts and magazine articles for our invention.

Look our talent as we acted out a scene of Oliver Twist.

Beowulf

We went back in time for our English, looking at texts with historical settings. We studied in detail the characters and compared the book and the film, we even wrote our own scene of the play.

We are well into our new unit for English, which is called United Kingdom. We have been looking at the British legends of King Arthur, Finn McCool and the Giant's Causeway and  The faithful dog Gelert, where we have compared the main features of legends. Our main work has been based around Beowulf, looking at character profiles and writing story settings, paying attention to the use of the most powerful vocabulary.

We aim to write our own legend style story and perform some of them to an audience.

Our focus theme is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. We will use this to help us develop our narrative and non -chronological report writing. We are looking forward to our visit to the Lowry theatre to see a live performance of this in January.

We loved our visit to the theatre. The performance was amazing.
