School Mission Statement
"Growing together within God's loving family we support, challenge and
inspire each other to become the best we can be"
We welcome you to The Cathedral School of St Peter & St John R.C. Primary. Anyone who knows our school will say we are a caring, friendly, happy and exciting school. To add to all of that we are also a very successful school having been judged an OUTSTANDING school by Ofsted (Ofsted, Sept2012). This is because we have a fantastic team of people at Cathedral School who make sure children enjoy learning and where we expect ALL children to do well.
Children at Cathedral School work in an atmosphere of calm and excitement! Children are at the heart of everything we do.
We work with many different people to make our school successful. We are fortunate in having wonderful supportive Governors who are dedicated to our school. We invite a variety of people into our school; artists, musicians, authors, sport specialists, consultants with varying specialisms and many more. If you go into the archive of our Weekly Newsletter you will see many past events and parents are regularly updated by our very popular newsletter.
You will be amazed to see what happens each week at Cathedral School!
As a Catholic school we belong to the Diocese of Salford and Salford Local Authority. The teachings of our faith are paramount and children are given opportunities to learn and develop their knowledge and understanding of our faith.
The dedicated and hard working team are deeply committed to ensuring children receive a high quality education. Excellent teaching ensures high academic standards as well as concentrating on the education of the whole child.
We are a school renowned for its creativity and reaching out beyond the classroom to excite and inspire learning. Children have experiences of trips to interesting places where they link directly to the unit they are researching.
School does its utmost to provide such visits and parents/carers are often asked to make a small contribution.
Our school council play a vital role in representing the voice of the children. They meet often and present their views and opinions. Often we can consider requests but if not it is explained and discussed fully!
Our many awards will tell you we are a school with vision - we have ECO-School status, we are a Fair Trade school, we have the B.I.G award, Healthy School status and have been awarded the Sainsbury's School Games Gold Standard award for the past three years and have applied for the Platinum award. We have fantastic sports teams and our many trophies and awards are testament to this. We are also striving to become a Dyslexia Friendly School and also applying to go through the process for Artsmark.
Please feel free to come in and visit our school as that will give you an idea of what The Cathedral School is all about. It is also an opportunity to ask questions and have a look around.
I know you will be impressed and I look forward to welcoming you and your children to our school community.
