World War Two

World War Two

During the summer term, Year 2 have been exploring what it would have been like to live during the time of World War 2. We used photographs to discover how terrifying it would have been to live through the blitz and how people sheltered in Anderson Shelters and children were evacuated to the countryside for safety.

We used this description from a firefighter at the time of the Blitz to create artwork to show what it might have looked like when St Paul’s Cathedral was bombed in 1940.

'"The sky, which was ebony black when we first got up there, was now changing to a yellowy orange colour. It looked like there was an enormous circle of fire, including St Paul's churchyard."
