Year three will visit Salford art gallery
Art lesson with the theme Colourful Creatures and Funny Fables
Pupils are introduced to the painting ‘Aesop Composing his Fables’. Pupils try and spot and name the different animals in the painting. Pupils are asked to name the different features of the animal, ie. long beak, sharp teeth, feathers. Gallery staff will tell a number of Aesop’s fables featuring the animals from the painting. We talk about the meaning of the stories, what it means to be fair and why it is important to respect each other’s differences. Pupils have the opportunity to make colourful sculptures based on the different creatures. This is made into a display to go back to school.
