Reading Recommendations

Here is a range of recommended reads for Year 3.

There is a selection of chapter books, independent reads, funny stories, picture books, poetry collections, non fiction and more.

There is something for all tastes, but keep an eye out for ninja cats, adventuring polar bears, intrepid explorers and the odd exploding dragon poo here and there too...

Reading for pleasure in Year 3 can provide entertainment and delight as well as opening up a whole host of new worlds to children. Books provide an opportunity to stretch the imagination as well as a chance to consider what life might be like in a myriad of settings and situations. Stories about the lives of others can help children to develop empathy and understand emotions, while at the same time increasing children's language skills and vocabulary.

Mrs Campbell recommends:

I love illustrated chapter books, particularly when there is a series to read - such as the Nothing to See Here Hotel series, the giggle worthy Sam Wu books and the very popular 13 Storey Treehouse series, which have memorable characters and frequent visual elements to break up the text. Or if you fancy a laugh out loud, you will enjoy Charlie Changes into a Chicken!
