The children had an amazing time at Salford Museum. It was really interesting to see how the lives of people in the past differ from those of today.
During our visit we walked along Lark Hill place, a Victorian street. The children experienced the sights and sounds of Salford in the past. The street had a lot of shops, including a toy shop, a dress makers , a pharmacy, a shoemakers and more. We met a lady who was visiting the street, she told us that she knew one of the shop keepers of the past.
" He was called Mr Critchley, his shop was on Whit Lane. My mum went in the shop, he was a lovely man".
The children were able to touch some of the objects in the street, including old printing paper and a Penny Farthing bicycle. They also experienced wash day in Victorian times.
There was so much to see! Share the experience with your children by discussing the photographs and asking them questions about what they saw and what they enjoyed the most.
