Fruit Salad melon bowl

To encourage the reception children to eat fruit, we decided to make a fruit salad using lots of different coloured fruit and melon to make a fruit bowl, we hoped this would make the fruit exciting.

As a class we talked about the fruit we could use and we made a shopping list, melon, kiwi, pineapple, grapes, apples and satsuma.

Using our fine motor skills, we chopped, sliced, peeled the fruit as well as scoop out the melon. The children filled half of the melon with fruit and used the other half as a lid to surprise the reception children.

The children in reception were so excited as they lifted the melon lid, they really enjoyed eating the fruit!
