Poetry and Poppies

This Remembrance Day, we joined with the rest of the school to commemorate 100 years since the end of World War 1, and remember all those who have lost their lives or suffered as a result of wars across the world.

We crafted poppies by recycling empty plastic bottles. By cutting both the top and bottoms off the bottles we shaped our own flowers. We then painted them to become the  exquisite flowers.

Once dry, we joined our flowers with those made in all the other classes, from Nursery to Year 6 to make our cascade of poppies.

It was a truly moving moment, as each child in our school took a moment to pause and remember before attaching their own poppy to the display.

Our parents and visitors were all invited to join us in this simple act of remembrance too.

We performed a Poem called "Opposites" at our Poetry and Poppies Performance.
