Sports Premium Funding

Our mission statement

"Growing together within God's loving family, we support, challenge and

inspire each other to become the best that we can be"

Our school is dedicated to improving the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision - this includes increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils will adopt a healthy life-style and reach the performance levels they are capable of.

Look What We've Achieved?

All of our fabulous children who have participated in competitive sport winning over 40 trophies - Well Done!

Sports Premium Funding is additional funding given to primary schools in England, by the government,  to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport.

For the financial year 2018/2019  the school received £17,669.

For last financial year 2019/2020 the school received £17,607

This financial year 2020/2021 school will receive £17,607

We were able to bring forward an amount from last year and so this  year 2020/21 we intend to be able to spend the majority, from a total of £24,089,  as follows:

>  P.E. Scheme of Work: £350

>  Link high school coach provision (SLA) £3,300

>  Link high school entry to competitions (SLA) £900

> Contribution to Minibus lease payments £5,000

>  Salford Community Leisure coach provision £5,395

>  Contribution to staffing costs £5,000

>  Equipment for sport £1,000

> Sports storage containers £1,000

This funding is instrumental in the school's ability to provide many sporting opportunities.  Since received school has taken part in many competitions as well as providing after-school sporting clubs.  All the clubs are oversubscribed and they are given high priority as an extra curricular activity.  We encourage all our children to participate, supporting and encouraging the least active.  The Cathedral School of St Peter and St John RC Primary has held the Gold level for participation in the School Games for the past 4 years.

We are a school with Healthy School status and we want to encourage our children to help them understand the benefits of changing their lifestyle habits - changing for life:

We use some of our sports grants towards the school minibus use, which has been put to good use during this autumn term 2020 - all classes have been taken on the bus to Heaton Park so they can expend some of their never-ending energy - a great time had by all with the children absolutely delighted to be out in the fresh air running around. Fantastic benefit!  Our children are very sport orientated and welcome an active school lifestyle and we are committed to provided this for them.

The funding has been used so far since the beginning to provide:

>  after-school and lunch-time sports clubs

>  employment of sports coaches to lead on clubs

>  resources - multi sports use fixed equipment, storage facilities for sports equipment

>  competition entry and travel to these fixtures

>  additional swimming lessons/transport

>  course attendance to develop staff teaching-skills in sports

>  a school minibus

Principles for Sport Premium Funding

Here at The Cathedral School of St Peter and St John RC Primary, we ensure that teaching and learning opportunities in sport and PE are of high quality, meeting the needs of all pupils so they achieve their potential. We provide and broad and varied curriculum in PE.

Sports Premium funding is allocated and targeted based on needs analysis which identifies priority classes, groups or individuals who will benefit from intervention in PE and sport.  Limited funding and resources means that not all children will be in receipt of sports premium interventions at one time.

What are our key priorities - our objectives of the funding?

  • Impact on Health and Well-Being
  • Sustainability
  • Raising the profile of PE and sport for the whole school improvement
  • Professional Development in PE
  • Increasing the range of sports and activities on offer
  • Competitive Sport

Impact and Sustainability

You can read our "Evidencing the Impact of the PE and Sports Premium Grant" document in the document below - is shows how well our school is using the funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils will adopt healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels that they are capable of.
