Our computing curriculum is mapped to ensure progression in the Computing Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy strands of the National Curriculum through the following objectives:
To Code - To connect - To communicate - To collect
To meet age related expectations we look for the following characteristics:
Competence in coding for a variety of practical and inventive purposes, including the application of ideas within other subjects.
• The ability to connect with others safely and respectfully, understanding the need to act within the law and with moral and ethical integrity.
• An understanding of the connected nature of devices.
• The ability to communicate ideas well by using applications and devices throughout the curriculum.
• The ability to collect, organise and manipulate data effectively.
We use the Knowsley CLC scheme of work as the basis for our Computing Curriculum, building in a wide variety of apps and coding activities too. Our curriculum is tightly linked to the Education of a Connected World framework, ensuring that Online Safety is paramount while preparing our children for a digital life.
