This term, our Year 3 students have been exploring the fascinating world of ammonites through art! We combined history, science, and creativity to bring these ancient fossils to life using polystyrene tile printing and clay modelling.
First, the children learned about ammonites which are spiral-shaped fossils that lived millions of years ago. They then sketched their own ammonite designs before carefully etching them onto polystyrene tiles. Using ink and rollers, they created stunning prints, experimenting with colour and pattern.
To add a 3D element, the children also sculpted their own ammonite models from clay, shaping and carving intricate details just like real fossils!
This hands-on project was a fantastic way to develop artistic skills, learn about prehistoric life, and have lots of fun in the process. We are so proud of their wonderful work!
