The Great School Science Share

What impact is global warming having on our oceans?

Year 3 led the children from other classes in an investigation to find out.

Working in teams, Year 3 researched, presented, and facilitated investigations to show the following:

An small increase in water temperature will have a huge impact on the icebergs.

The ice melts from above due to increased air temperature. The ice melts from below due to increased water temperature.

The melting icebergs cause the water level to rise, causing flooding across the world.

The loss of icebergs will impact on the habitats of many species. Animals adapted for the cold will struggle. Food chains will be disrupted. Ultimately, species could die out.

A huge congratulations to Year 3 for a fantastic science share!

Year 3 also had the opportunity to visit the stations of the other classes to explore their investigations.
