Happy Halloween! This week in Nursery we have been carving pumpkins. The children enjoyed exploring the different textures and using their fine motor skills to scoop out the insides.
This week in nursery we have enjoyed reading 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears.' The children have enjoyed a wide range of activities within our classroom, and have been acting out the story!
Today in nursery we have been getting ready for bonfire night. We watched as Miss Doolan performed a science experiment which involved fireworks in a glass! We watched a video of a fireworks display and talked about all of the sounds we could hear. The children could hear 'zap, bang, pop!' The children then used different colours to create their own firework pictures.
This week we have been reading the story "The Three Little Pigs." The children really enjoyed this story and enjoyed joining in with the repeated phrases. "Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin!"🐷🐽 As you can see from the pictures below, the children were very busy in their play rebuilding a new house for the pigs. They chose from different materials and opted for the strongest choice, bricks!
This week in nursery we have been learning about shapes. We then decided to go on a shape hunt in our classroom environment to see how shapes are EVERYWHERE!
Following on from our 'Once Upon A Time' topic, this week we have been focusing on the book Cinderella. This was a hit in nursery and one that the children were very familiar with! The children enjoyed a range of activities in class such as making tiaras and crowns to go to the ball just like Cinderella! But it is not always glitter and sparkles... before this they were hard at work in the water tray cleaning up pots and pans just like Cinderella at the beginning of our story! The children also enjoyed using a range of materials and resources to create ball gowns and pumpkin carriages. "My carriage has 5 wheels" Delilah says. 'I need to make my carriage big enough for Cinderella and her Prince" Bryan replies, as he uses his tools to flatten the play dough.
Wow! What a proud day for everybody in Nursery! Today the children performed in front of our parents and carers for the very first time. They showcased some of the beautiful work they have been doing on God and sang a wonderful song called Our God Is A Great Big God. They were so incredibly brace and sang their hearts out. Please visit the video resource centre on our website to watch!
This week we have been reading Little Red Riding Hood. We have enjoyed reinacting the story in our classroom by role playing, baking cakes for grandma and constructing various things such as wolf dens, forests and a map for Red Riding Hood!
Maths fun. We have been working hard to create patterns using ten frames and other resources.
Today we have started our Advent preparations. The children are preparing for the coming of Our Lord on Christmas Day. Each week, the children will pray around their advent wreath spreading hope, peace, joy and love to Christ and to everybody we meet!
Who is that trip trapping across my bridge???
