Greenhouses

We are making greenhouses!

After looking at a range of examples from the real world, it was time to design our own.

We have been investigating 3D structures and testing to see how we can strengthen them. We found out that triangles offer more strength than squares, and tried to add horizontally struts to our models to increase stability.

Next it was time to investigate the ideal material for the sides of our greenhouse.

Referring back to the purpose of the greenhouse, we knew it needed to let light in and protect from the wind and rain.

We tested a range of materials for their strength (did they rip easily), transparency, and waterproofness.
