The children had an amazing time at Salford Museum and Art Gallery, they were able to see how life in the past differs from life today. During the visit the children walked down a Victorian street named Lark Hill place. They experienced sights and sounds of Salford in the past. The street was dark but we used a lantern to help us see all the wonderful things.

The street is  'bumpy' says Mo. We explained that this is what the streets looked like in Victorian times and they were called cobbled streets.

Lark Hill place had houses and shops, including a chemist, a toy shop, a printers, a dress makers, a cobblers (Aysha remembered the story we had read in school about the Elves and the Shoemaker), a Blacksmiths and more.

Whilst looking in the houses there were many comments and questions... "How did the people make food"? Alex "Where is the microwave"? Nathan "I can see portraits" Ayoub " They washed clothes with this", Mila pointed to a big barrel. "This is a carriage" Maya.

Once we had visited Lark Hill place, the children dressed in clothes from the past and we looked around the Victorian Art Gallery. Ayoub recognised a a postcard featuring the Mona Lisa and was very excited to share the news with his friends and adults.

The children were able to link what they saw in the museum to their learning in school.
