Autumn 1

Our first few weeks! Have a look to see how well your child has settled in to nursery! We are having the best time getting to know one another, make friends, explore and have fun! Nursery, I am so proud of you!

We have been enjoying getting messy outside in the mud kitchen, serving up some delicious plates!

We have been learning about our faces and different features through the use of various loose parts. The children used a selection of loose parts to create their face. It was great to see the children thinking about where they needed to place the items to ensure it looked like a face. They needed a little support to do this, and we talked a lot about their own faces to help them.

Another exciting week in nursery and more settled, happy learners!

We have been exploring Autumn in Nursery this week. Our Autumn talking tub sparked lots of conversation today, as the children investigated what they could see using their magnifying glasses. We also had some excellent hedgehogs roaming around our classroom today!

We have been reading the story 'The Colour Monster' this week and exploring all of the different emotions that we have. The children engaged very well with our emotions display board and each day have been arriving to school, ensuring that the first thing they do is check in with their feelings. They have had some fantastic conversations about how they feel, using lots of new vocabulary from our story. I am so impressed to see our youngest learners engage so positively with this, and understanding that all feelings are okay!

Following on from our 'All about Me' topic, we started our carpet session today with a game of 'Miss Doolan says touch your...' The children were fantastic at identifying all of the different body types. We used some large scale paper to help us learn about our bodies further, and I had some great helpers! Once we had a huge outline of the body, we used some body part cards to label the areas, some children even used a pen to draw on the body parts We know so much about our bodies!

We have been reading lots of Traditional Tales in Nursery this term, along with many different nursery rhymes... can you guess which ones we know?
