Geography

At The Cathedral School of St Peter and St John, our geography curriculum helps children make sense of the world God has created, nurturing curiosity, responsibility and a deep appreciation of place. Rooted in our mission “Growing together within God’s loving family, we support, challenge and inspire each other to become the best that we can be”, pupils explore local environments, the United Kingdom and the wider world through purposeful fieldwork, map skills and rich enquiry-based learning. As children investigate weather, land use, rivers, continents and global communities, they begin to understand how people and places are interconnected and how human choices shape the environment.

These learning experiences provide natural opportunities to reflect on Catholic Social Teaching, especially stewardship of creation, care for the vulnerable and our shared responsibility for global justice. Our aim is to develop informed, compassionate learners who recognise their role in caring for the Earth and the people who live on it.
