Marvellous Machines

Banana Milkshake... Blender or Whisk?

The children have  been talking about machines that we use in our homes.

How do they help us?

"Cook food  in an oven and it goes around" We guessed he was describing a microwave.

"My mummy has a washing machine, it washes my coat" Mila.

Nathan used his hands to show a lid being put on top of something, he said he puts food in it and it spins, he was asked if the food mixes together and he replied yes.... what do you think he was describing?

Mrs Mc Fadden thinks he is describing a food processor!  One afternoon we noticed we had a lot of  bananas and milk in our class so we decided to make some milkshake, but how would we mix it? "A fork" Daniel. "Spoons" replied Ayoub. Mrs Mc Fadden found a whisk, she said it would take a long time to make milkshake using a whisk but she had something in her kitchen that would  help, a marvellous machine, it was like an electric whisk, Mrs Mc Fadden called it a blender .

We talked about needing electricity to make the blender work and how to keep safe.

The thick milkshake was like McDonalds, but even better and healthier!

Blender or hand whisk... what would you choose?
