Positional Language

In Geography, our Year 1 pupils are learning to use positional and directional language to describe where places and objects are. They practise using words such as left, right, forwards, backwards, near, far, next to and between when following simple routes, giving directions and talking about maps of the classroom and school. This helps them to develop their understanding of space and location, and builds the language they need to describe the world around them with confidence.
