Summer 1

Welcome back everybody! We hope you had a restful Easter break and are ready for a brand new term. In Summer 1, Nursery are going to be focusing on the topic 'Sunshine and Sunflowers' and all things planting! Our text of the week is called 'The Tiny Seed' by Eric Carle, which focuses on the journey of a seed throughout the seasons. We have had such a lovely start to Spring with the beautiful weather, so what better way to start a new term than with some hands-on planting! Stay tuned to see our sunflowers grow.

We have taken our maths learning outside today with a 2D and 3D shape hunt. The children enjoyed exploring the outdoors and finding the shapes in our playground environment.

The flower soup went down a treat today in the water area!

Welcome to our Garden Centre! In our new role play area, the children have been taking on various roles such as gardeners, shopkeepers, and customers buying flowers and seeds. They have been busy digging, planting, and watering plants, all while developing their language, social, and early maths skills along the way.

We had the best time today in Heaton Park looking for signs of Spring! We had a checklist of things we wanted to see, and we managed to find them all on our travels! The squirrels were very friendly, and the birds singing sounded beautiful! We compared our Heaton Park trip with our Peel Park trip that we attended earlier this year and discussed what was different. This time around, the leaves were green and the trees were full. Flowers were blossoming and the sun was shining! Spring is here!
